Food from Paradise: Indonesian Cuisine

After one of the most fabulous getaways to the Island of Gods – Bali, I came back refreshed, more open minded, and… happily satisfied with Indonesian food. There are three words that come to mind when thinking about the essence of Indonesian cooking: rice, spicy, fragrant. Here is a photographic journey to Bali.

Rice

Rice Paddies –> Planting New Rice –> Young White Rice in Liquid Form –> Bubur Udang (prawn porridge)

Luwak Coffee

Luwak (the animal) –> Eats coffee beans and passes it through, fermented and cleaned –> Luwak Coffee –> French Pressed

Fruits

Snake Skin Fruit & Apples –> Mangosteen –> Fruit Salad –> Fresh Banana Juice

Satay

Satay We Made –> Ground Chicken Mixed with Freshly Made Peanut Sauce –> Making Peanut Sauce –> Cooking Satay

Vegetables

Local Balinese Market –> Chopped Vegetables –> Making Fresh Curry Sauce –> Gado Gado (Curried Veg Dish)

Breakfast

Ham and Eggs –> Mie Goreng (fried noodles) –> Balinese Strawberry Pancakes –> Nasi Goreng (fried rice)

Going Gourmet

Mozaic Restaurant in Ubud, Bali –> Us in Mozaic Lounge –> Seafood Carpaccio –> Green Tea Chocolate Cake

Just Because… <3 Bali

Our Villa Living Room –> On My Way to Villa Spa–> Pura Saraswati (lotus pond temple) –>

Indonesian Legong Dance at Ubud Palace –> Monkey Forest Monkies

The food really was divine. Organic, fresh, and homemade – I recommend the cuisine!
